Car for Sale – Runs Well…
Congratulations to England on winning the Ashes!
Great Stuff!!
Well, surprise, surprise, Vodafone rang me this afternoon to ask why I was leaving and could they persuade me otherwise.
I filled them in on the lack of security on their online billing website, and the fact that Vodafone customer services were not taking the matter seriously.
They offered to halve my rental for six months and upgrade my phone for free. Well since the first part only represents a saving of 30 quid, and an upgraded phone would have Vodafone’s butchered operating system, I didn’t think that was much of an offer.
I declined, saying that the website was still non-secure and besides, I had already set in motion my move to another provider.
Further to my problems with Vodafone customer Service (see previous posts), they finally accepted they were giving me false information:
Well, it’s September and the biggest clue that the summer is over, is that my journey to work now takes 33% longer. Yes, the schools have gone back.
I still don’t understand how the school run affects traffic at 7 o’clock in the morning when school starts at 9.
What also doesn’t make sense is that the traffic on the motorway is so much heavier. I could understand increased traffic on local roads, especially around schools, but why does the school traffic increase the motorway traffic?
What happened to walking or cycling to school, or even getting a bus?
Vodafone UK have redesigned their on-line billing interface (about time too) but they have either forgotten or decided to omit security in their planning. The new pages are all accessed over non-secure links.
After trying the ‘Safety’ camera trial on Tomtom, it appears that the demo file is severely limited. Most of the the known cameras are missing.
However, I found the pocketgps.co.uk website where you can download free POI files for speed camera locations for Tomtom and other GPS units.
I’ve had a Garmin eTrex for a while now, which I use when both walking and driving. While it is more than adequate for walking, it lacks the underlying road map when driving, so I decided to invest in a Tomtom unit.
Last night at 8:30pm the power went off here. When I picked up the phone to call the electricity company, I was surprised to find the phone was also dead.
